Volunteer for The Barclays Golf Tournament! For details click here.
Volunteers come from all walks of life but they have one thing in common: the desire to help others. At the YWCA of Bergen County, a volunteer’s time can go a long way towards helping children, teens and adults in our community.
We offer a variety of opportunities for volunteers to get involved with us as we work to provide the community with programs that empower women and girls and eliminate racism. The following are just a few of the areas where individuals and companies can donate their time and talents:
special swim
The YWCA is always in need of volunteers to help out with our swimming programs for mentally and physically challenged youngsters. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and no previous experience is required. Classes are held Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 4:30 p.m., making this a perfect community service opportunity for students and Scouts.
Please call the Therapeutics Department at (201) 444-5600, ext. 348 or email Linda Doller for information.
special events
Join a planning committee or volunteer to work at one of the YWCA’s special events! We host numerous events throughout the year including:
- Power & Possibilities: A self esteem workshop for high school girls
- Bergen County Clothesline Project: A powerful T-shirt display, created by survivors or their significant others, to bear witness to incest, sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence or death as a result of violence
- Tribute To Women and INdustry (TWIN) Awards: Gala dinner honoring outstanding business women and the companies whose progressive policies have been instrumental to their success
For more information please call the Special Events department at (201) 881-1723 or email Barbara Giarmo.
