The student winners of the YWCA of Bergen County’s 2009 Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest were honored during the YWCA’s Stand Against Racism community event on Friday April 3rd at Paramus Park Mall. The annual contest is open to Bergen County students in elementary school through high school

This year’s winners, inspired by the theme “The Dream is Alive – and Because of the Dream I/We Can…,” are Caroline Kotch, Grade 5, Ridge Elementary School in Ridgewood; Molly Williams, Grade 8, The Elizabeth Morrow School in Englewood; and Jeffrey Todaro, Grade 11, Fort Lee Education Center in Fort Lee. Each winner received a certificate and gift card, and each school was presented with a plaque inscribed with its winner’s name.
